Intel Launches Mobile Quads
Available August 17 will be two new mobile quad cores. One extreme edition and one regular one. The extreme will be available for $1,038! This QX9300 is sitting at 2.53ghz with 12mb of L2 cache, so it’s pretty much just a mobile Yorkshire. Also the FSB is clocked at 1066Mhz and it uses 45w’s of power.
The second, the Q9100, is at 2.26ghz and has 12mb of L2 cache. This quad is not as steep as the extreme, but is still pricey at $851 at launch! This is fantastic news from movie editors, photographers, etc, that like to take their work on the go. This is also a giant step for mobile gaming, and it’s only a matter of time until Alienware and the others capitalize on this.
