Bounce rate is the percentage of single page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance landing page. This entrance can be from any page on your site. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages are not relevant to your visitors.
Improve bounce rate:
1)Your page load time should not be more than 6 seconds.
2)Remove anything that starts automatically starts making a noise.
3)Enticing headings.
4)Relevant headings.
5)Compatibility.

Because of they don't get what they are looking for or they are not found your site interesting. So try to give them what they are looking for and use fresh and unique content in your site to hold them. Thanks for sharing this information with us sarahbrooks and bounce rate also matters a lot for any websites and its should not be more then 41% infact it should be low as much it can be. A bounce rate is that when ever home page is visited by any user and it close the website without visiting any other page of that site.
