Default Acer DX650 and X960 Phones Spotted in the Wild

Acer DX650 and X960 Phones Spotted in the Wild
The new devices pack a lot of functionality

Acer DX650

As already reported, Acer plans to release some new mobile phones this year, and two of the yet announced handsets to come from the computer maker, namely the DX650 and X960, have been spotted in the wild. According to the news, both these mobile phones are running under Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.

The new devices do not seem to be the greatest hits in the design area, yet both Acer DX650 and X960 come with a wide range of capabilities, including GPS support, HSDPA, WiFi and Bluetooth, connectivity, as well as miniUSB capabilities and a microSD card slot for additional storage space.

Furthermore, both devices are powered by a 533MHz Samsung S3C6410 processor and also feature hardware graphics acceleration, 256 MB of ROM and 128 MB of RAM. One of the differences between the Acer phones is that the X960 comes equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera, while the DX650 only includes a 2-megapixel snapper.

One of the most attractive features of the Acer DX650 is the fact that it sports a dual-sided form factor. For one side, it includes a standard numeric keypad that is coupled with a 1.27-inch monochrome OLED display that can deliver a 128 x 96 pixel resolution. On the other side, the new DX650 resembles a classic PDA, as it includes a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display. In addition, the handset features a jog-dial key on one side.

The second device, Acer X960, also includes a 2.8-inch display, only that it sports a higher VGA resolution, namely 640 x 480 pixels.

Computer maker Acer is expected to announce several new smart devices at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona between February 16 and 18. The new DX650 and X960 are expected to be part of the announcement, which means that we might get a better look at them during the show.
