In a distant future, an elite peacekeeping force is fighting the unrest of civil war. Treachery in the ranks does, however, two members of the feared Dead echo unit to act on their own.

As the two try freshly baked space pirates Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato later unsuccessfully to make big money, they encounter the Ulysses, the warship of her ex-commander. Terms of numbers and weapons failed attacks, the Colossus of Grayson frontal and eventually proceed to a final, suicidal decision to take revenge: he rammed the warship.

After their subsequent near-crash landing are Grayson and Ishi now, surrounded by hordes of mutants and stranded carnivorous plants on the remote, paradisiacal planet Stygia. They are driven by two objectives: to escape from there and live to take revenge on the man who has put in this situation.
