FDA Sets Rules For Genetically Engineered Animals

Washington (ECN) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released guidelines in regards to genetically engineered animals.

These are the final regulations from the FDA in governing the approval of genetically engineered animals.

The guidelines released have nothing to do with consumer labeling for foods or anything such as that.

Genetically engineered animals are going to require FDA approvel though before they can enter into the market.

They will also have to follow law and regulation set by the National Environmental Policy Act.

This shows new clear standards for regulatory decisions by the FDA in this regard.

Those in favor believe genetically engineered animals will lead to healthier foods, and more production.

The big thing left out here though is that food products with a genetically engineered animal do not have to be labeled as that.
